Creating a note

The interface for a patient op note contains the following:

  1. Tabs (e.g. Pre op)
  2. Sections (e.g. Antibiotics)
  3. Options (e.g. IV dose on induction only)
  4. Selections (A selected option)

Tabs

  • The note interface contains 6 parent tabs that house sections
  • The tabs are labelled Admin, Pre op, Op Info, Op narrative Post op and Images

Sections

  • Each section (e.g. Antibiotics) houses a list of options for you to select from
  • You can create as many sections as you like
  • Sections live in your library
  • Sections can be renamed
  • Sections can be reordered
  • Sections can be copied (does not add to your library)

Options

  • Options can be selected to become an entry on the note
  • Options are stored within their sections in your library
  • Options can be edited within your library
  • Options cannot be longer than 3,000 characters. This is to ensure that a section fits on a single page of the PDF.

Selections

  • Selections are displayed on the patient note and will be seen by someone who reads the note after it has been submitted.
  • When creating a patient note (but not in template mode), a selection can be edited by clicking it on the note: this is a useful override to make a minor change to a pre-filled selection from a template. There is a switch that controls whether edits to selections should update the corresponding library option.

Leveraging templates

Although you could create a patient note from scratch after every operation, this isn't a good use of your time and it isn't how the app is meant to be used. The key to rapid and efficient note creation is to create a series of procedure templates.

The good news is that Praccelerate helps you with this process by providing an excellent set of templates, ready for you to import into your account. You can then edit them to suit your own requirements.

You can use your template as the foundation of your patient note so that 95% of the work is already pre-filled and ready to go. Simply tweak as you need based on the unique circumstances of the operation, and then submit.
